Zeren provides custom multi-port housings using the lost wax casting process. Investment casting brings tubular sections, angled connections and external bosses into one component, creating a near-net-shape starting point for subsequent machining. Material selection, interface finishing and inspection requirements are defined according to your drawings and assembly needs.

Casting Design

The illustrated housing combines a tubular body with multiple openings, angled branches and raised external features. Investment casting offers design flexibility for integrating these features into a single casting, helping reduce the need for separately manufactured and joined components.

Before tooling begins, we review wall thickness transitions, junctions, internal geometry and machining allowances. This review identifies features that may require design adjustments, core solutions or secondary machining.

Internal passages and small openings are evaluated individually to determine the appropriate manufacturing approach.

Material Options

Material selection depends on the operating environment, mechanical requirements and any specified heat treatment. Custom housing projects can be reviewed in stainless steel, carbon steel or alloy steel.

Material Group

Selection Considerations

Stainless Steel

Corrosion exposure, operating temperature and surface requirements

Carbon Steel

Mechanical properties, machinability and protective finishing

Alloy Steel

Strength, toughness and heat treatment requirements

The final grade and material acceptance criteria are confirmed against the approved drawing and project specifications.

Precision Machining

Lost wax casting establishes the main housing geometry, while CNC machining finishes features that require closer dimensional control.

Depending on the drawing, secondary operations may include:

  • Boring and finishing connection openings.

  • Machining threads for mating components.

  • Facing sealing and assembly surfaces.

  • Drilling small holes that are unsuitable for direct casting.

  • Machining reference features for accurate positioning.

Machining allowances are considered during casting development to support the required finished dimensions.

Quality Checks

Inspection focuses on the characteristics that affect fit, assembly and the agreed service requirements. Inspection methods and documentation are confirmed before production.

Inspection Item

Typical Scope

Material Verification

Chemical composition against the specified grade

Visual Inspection

Accessible casting surfaces, cleaning and visible defects

Dimensional Inspection

Overall dimensions, interface locations and machined features

Additional Testing

Mechanical properties, nondestructive testing or leak testing when specified and agreed

For housings intended to contain fluids or operate under pressure, the applicable test method and acceptance criteria must be defined during the quotation stage.

Custom Production

From initial drawing review to repeat orders, Zeren supports custom housing production through investment casting and secondary processing.

To request a quotation, please provide:

  • A 3D model and dimensioned 2D drawing.

  • Required material grade.

  • Order quantity and estimated annual demand.

  • Critical dimensions and tolerances.

  • Surface treatment and inspection requirements.

Our team will review casting feasibility, machining needs and tooling requirements to prepare a quotation for your project.
