Pump impellers often combine curved blades, narrow flow passages, hub structures and precision mounting features, making them more difficult to manufacture than simple cast components.

Silica sol investment casting allows complex impeller geometries to be produced close to the final shape while maintaining good surface quality and dimensional consistency. This can reduce excessive machining while allowing critical functional areas to be finished by CNC machining.
